The Charles Vivian workshop — machine shop in the barn

How We Work

Our Process

Every piece created by Charles Vivian follows a carefully considered journey — from the first conversation through to the final reveal. We believe that beautifully handmade furniture deserves a bespoke process, one that is as considered and refined as the finished piece itself.

01

Initial Consultation

We begin with a visit to your home to understand your vision, measure your space and discuss how you live. This is where we listen carefully, take detailed measurements and begin to understand the style, functionality and feel you are looking for.

02

Design & Planning

Our designers create detailed plans and 3D visualisations so you can see exactly how your furniture will look and feel in situ. We refine every detail together until the design is precisely right.

03

Material Selection

We help you select the perfect materials — from hand-finished timbers and natural stone to premium handles and ironmongery. Every choice is guided by our experience and your personal taste.

04

Handmade in Our Workshop

Your furniture is handmade by our team of skilled craftsmen in our workshop. Using time-honoured techniques alongside modern precision, every joint, edge and surface is crafted to the highest standard.

05

Professional Installation

Our experienced installation team fits your furniture with meticulous care, ensuring every element sits perfectly in your home. We treat your property with the utmost respect throughout the process.

06

Aftercare & Support

Our relationship doesn’t end at installation. We provide full aftercare guidance and remain on hand for any adjustments, maintenance or future projects you may have in mind.
